Here is a list, sorted by age, of known victims killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, derived from a list issued by health officials. This list was taken from Palestine Datasets, and was last updated on September 21, 2024. The 34,344 victims recorded here are not fully representative of the human toll of Israel's actions in Gaza. A peer-reviewed study in the Lancet published in July 2024, for example, put the death toll at a minimum of 186,000 at that time. We urge visitors to read more about other factors you should consider. For some eye-witness accounts of the attrocities, we also share an open letter to the Biden administration from doctors and nurses who have spent time in Gaza, dated July 2024.
This visualization is a work in progress and hopefully the first of a series, as part of an initiative affiliated with the AF2C. One way in which we would like to develop this work is to link the names below to stories about who these people were, because each one was so much more than just a name, and keeping those memories alive is perhaps the most important work to do over the next decade. We invite those interested in helping us develop this initiative to reach out to us.
